The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas

Brian and I like to go to Camelview Harkins in Scottsdale.  That's where we can catch the smaller movie or foreign film that might not make it to AMC, etc. A couple of weeks ago we saw the movie "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas".  It's the kind of movie that stays with you afterwards.  It takes place during WWII in Germany.  It is English speaking. An eight year old Bruno, son of a high ranking German Officer, befriends an eight year old Jewish boy. They meet through the fence of the concentration camp Bruno's father oversees, while exploring the woods behind his new home in the country. It isn't a visually graphic movie depicting the atrocities that took place at the camps, so I would feel comfortable taking our 12 year old, Adam to see it.  The drama comes in the audience already knowing the history of the time.  Go to the link above and watch the trailer. It's a movie worth seeing. The kind of movie that is fun to talk about afterwards. Let me know what you think if you do see it.

  2. Matthew and I would love this - I'm going to search it out and get back to you so we can chat about it.

P.S. we recently watched "Dan in Real Life" yet again - is that the best movie or WHAT! Love it!
